When the unit is plugged into a wall outlet the top of the unit covers part of the outlet above. Thismakes it impossible to use a 3 prong device and nearly impossible to plug in a 2 prong device. So you are dedicating an entire outlet to this one device. Seems they should have figured that one out.

Design and Controls
The FR100's attractive exterior houses an innovative fold-away AC plug that recharges the unit's built-in battery pack. The unit's blue backlit digital display shows radio frequency, time of day, alarm wake-up time, and a symbol for alarm activation. A powerful LED flashlight is integrated into the side of the radio, where you'll also find controls for volume level, tuning, and band selection.
The FR100 lets you choose from several alert modes that define what the radio does in the event of a power outage. You can set the unit to play the radio only, to turn on the light, or to turn on the light and radio at the same time. Of course, you can also set the FR100 to do nothing when power is cut.
Tuning and Bands
You can use the FR100's analog tuner to tune into your favorite local stations, In addition to a telescoping FM antenna, the unit contains an internal ferrite bar antenna for AM reception.
Connections and Power
The FR100 can be powered by the direct AC plug-in on the back of the device, or via the internal rechargeable battery. The battery must be charged for 72 hours to receive a full charge. An earphone socket can also serve as an auxiliary FM antenna.
Extras
In addition to a digital clock, the FR100 also features an alarm clock function.

And unlike the APPLE ipod dock + flimsy tiny remote with no display whatsoever + AV connection kit (= $100) (which I returned to Apple) this remote works via RADIO FREQUENCY from across the room and through walls if it has to be. The remote even has a DISPLAY that shows you what's playing - you know, kind of useful when you're across the room. You can even navigate through your ipod's menu; that's never been easy and it doesn't get easier using a remote without clickwheel, but it works.

What really blew me away is that I was able to also program my Aquos TV, my Sony receiver, my Sony Blue Ray and my Panasonic VHD/DVD combo. Those devices it controls via INFRARED, just like your original factory remotes that came with whatever you bought, and therefore you have to point the remote at your TV etc when operating those. What a relief, that remote control clutter is gone.

Just for fun I even programmed this remote to control my BOSE Portable Sounddock. Yep, it works.

Bass lovers can just "sit back and enjoy the sound". I have and Ipod nano 5th gen. and my EQ was off, and had to change it to flat , so i wont get deaf and low my volume limit to 70%. Believe me you dont want to listen something in this headphones for straight 100% of volume, its not that quality is bad ,you'll just mess up your hearing. I say PERFECT. ,for the 16$ headphones just cant be better. I'll compare them to the beats by dre tour , and i have a feeling that no difference will be found.

1 disadvantage and why i gave only 4 stars. The headphone cable is really short and barely can reach the pocket if you are standing straight (im 6.1), the extension cord is also provided in the package but when you roll it all out it becomes too long. I just tied it to the size i need and carry. Gives a little discomfort of carrying but DOES NOT EFFECTS ON SOUND QUALITY

Whenever I travel, I feel bad because my Sangean ATS-909 is a little too big to drag along.Besides size, cost was an important factor in my purchase decision.There were not many reviews for the Kaito KA11, but it had most of the features I wanted and overall Kaito radios have pretty good reviews.

I ordered the radio online for $54 including shipping.As advertised, the radio is extremely small.Although small in size, this radio is packed with features.Overall, the buttons/controls are nicely laid out.Using the radio is very intuitive, but you may need to crack open the manual to use some of the features such as the sleep timer and the alarm clock.The manual is easy to read, but obviously translated to English so some of the sentences require some patience to understand.

Features: The radio has 1000 memory locations (100 per page).You have the option to scan through the stored memory locations or just scan up/down by frequency.Even though the speaker is small, the radio still sounds good.Overall, sensitivity is decent and selectivity between strong adjacent stations is good.The radio displays both time and frequency.The backlight is orange and the LCD display is very easy to read.So far battery life seems very good.The left-side of the radio has an external antenna jack.The battery compartment door is attached...a welcome change.The package comes with an AC adapter, manual, ear bud headphones and a long-wire external antenna.If you use rechargeable batteries, it is possible to charge the batteries inside the radio (with the AC adapter).

The whip antenna stores inside the radio.I am not sure I like this feature.Sometimes the antenna sticks while trying to push it back into the radio.Hopefully this will become less sticky over time.To set the clock, you need need to take the batteries out of the radio momentarily.The rotary volume control is very sensitive.Unfortunately, this makes it fairly easy to go from low volume to extremely loud without much movement.I also do not care for the location of the volume control.When the radio is lying flat on a table, you cannot adjust the volume.The carrying strap is permanently attached to the radio.This is a small annoyance.Unlike similar radios in its class, there is no pop-out stand.In my opinion, the frequency coverage should have included the 60 meter band.

For future designs of this radio, I would like to see a slight change in memory functionality. If you manually punch in a frequency that is already in memory, I would like the behavior changed so it displays the memory location of that frequency.Right now, you have no way to know if a frequency is already in memory.There should also be an easy way to add a frequency to the next available memory location.Currently, you need to specify a memory location when saving a frequency. This increases the possibility that you may overwrite a memory location with a different frequency.

In summary, I really love my Kaito KA11 radio and I am very happy with the purchase. It is definitely a great feature-packed radio, especially for its size and price.Most of the issues discussed above are minor annoyances and definitely not reasons to avoid this radio.

(More customer reviews)About three years ago I had purchased a Sandisk Sansa m230 Mp3 player (the blue 512 MB one). I loved the little gadget, until it was in a horrible accident involving a heavy book bag and the floor. Amazingly the player still worked, but the screen was scattered. So I used the device for the past year a bit messed up, then I saw that Sansa was coming out with the Fuze in March. I new that if my little mp3 player could be smashed by a 20 lb. book bag and still work, the Fuze would have to be wonderful.

I never even considered an iPod. They are not worth the money and friends have had way to much trouble with the devices for me to begin to think about buying one. The Fuze has all the abilities of videos, radio, pictures, music (of course), and so much more. And their prices for the about of memory that you get is amazing. Who ever uses 80 GB of memory anyway? If you do or have, I applaud your unimaginable music library.

Since I was going away to college, I decided to spend a bit of my graduation party money on one, I bought a 4 GB Pink Fuze. When it arrived, I have to admit I was surprised how small it really was. But it fit perfectly in your hand, so the smallness doesn't really affect anything. The screen is unbelievably bright. I have it set to the lowest brightness and still can see things perfectly fine in complete darkness. The turn wheel glides smoothly, and is easy to select the songs you want. The sound is wonderful also. The headphones that come with the Fuze fit so nicely and sound terrific. I wish I could buy just those!

I will admit that the screen does scratch a bit easy. I was cleaning it, something which I obsess over a bit, with an eye glass cleaning cloth and little scratches appeared when I was finished. So it might be a good idea to invest in a hard case that covers the screen or those screen protectors that companies make for GameBoys or something like that.

You should also know that you must convert videos and pictures using a download found on the sansa fuze forum. It takes a little while to download, but the conversions don't take all that long to finish. It also puts them right to the Fuze. There is also a firmware download on the Fuze forum that might be a good idea to download. It doesn't take very long either.

I love my Fuze and wish I would have bought one sooner. You can't bet the price for the memory and the quality of the product. Sansa put that little bit of effort into their products that make them extra special. For example the silicon like back on the Fuze to help the device not slide. It feels neat too. If you are thinking of buying one, DO IT! You won't regret it! They are awesome!

(More customer reviews)This is a very affordable AM/FM radio. The reception is pretty good overall, and the sound quality is fine. The battery life appears to be very good. As expected, it comes with cheap earbud headphones. I have been using it to listen to radio while I exercise. It looks pretty nice, too, IMHO.

I have two minor problems with this unit. First, the tuning is done with a dial on the top, so it's easy to accidentally brush it and mess up your perfect tuning job. Secondly, the earphones are just a little bit too short for my use, and can catch on moving exercise equipment parts. I've done it many times, and now one of the earbuds is flaky, turning on and off at times.

(More customer reviews)We bought one of these Amplivox units about a year ago for our nonprofit organization to use at public educational demonstrations. As an electrical engineer, I had spent quite a bit of time reviewing specifications and prices, and finally settled on this one. It isn't the cheapest on the market, but you get what you pay for.

The cone speaker is fairly directional, allowing you to control the direction in which it projects sound. In particular, you can stand to one side to avoid feedback. Surprisingly, however, the unit is not prone to feedback even if you are standing in front of the speaker, as long as you are not too close. I found that I can stand 10 meters or so in front of the speaker, with volume at reasonable levels, and still not have a feedback problem. Ideally, you are off to the side, but that's not always feasible in all locations.

Sound quality is in my opinion quite good for a public address system, but you should understand that this is a *public address system* and not a music system. You can certainly play music through the amplifier, but it is optimized for human speech and lacks the frequency response and dynamic range for high-fidelity music reproduction. In engineering design, there are always tradeoffs, and the designers were able to make this device work better for speech by intentionally limiting its response range. I have also been very pleased that the speaker has plenty of headroom, and I have not heard any clipping or overdrive.

One very nice feature of this model is that it has inputs for an extra wireless or wired microphone as well as a line-level input for connection to an external source such as an MP3 player for sound effects or background music. This feature is hard to find on equipment in this price range.

The battery life of the unit is surprisingly good. I was skeptical of the manufacturer's claim of how long it can run on "D" cells, but I have to admit it really does run a long time. We bought the 12 volt adapter (and I recommend this if you're going to run it all day), but for most short presentations (up to 3 or 4 hours) I just use the inboard "D" cells.

The manufacturer calls this a "half mile hailer". I haven't tested it at that range, but I would believe the claim based on what I have observed. With the volume at about 40% to 50%, we are able to give educational presentations in very crowded outdoor venues such as a town festival.

The wireless microphones are of very high quality, with no discernable difference in fidelity between wired and wireless in my tests. They operate on different radio frequencies and have so far been immune to crossover in our usage. These are expensive microphones, but as with the amplifier you get what you pay for. My only caveat is that using the wireless microphones properly does require some training. Anyone can learn it, but audio novices may need some practice to get the mic placement right.

My overall opinion is that this PA system does exactly what its manufacturer claims, and does it very well. I would not recommend it to professional musicians because its sound quality is not optimized for that application. But within its intended application -- public address -- it is a high-quality, rugged, reliable performer that is well worth the money.

(More customer reviews)I have had this Kensington FM transmitter for about 2 months and in my hands it has very acceptable sound and not alot of static.

Unfortunately it has one fatal design flaw that makes listening to classical, jazz and any other type of music with any quiet passages VERY FRUSTRATING.During the quiet parts the unit will shut itself off causing my car audio to emit a ear piercing screech when it loses the signal. I haven't measured it but it seems like as little a 10-15 seconds of quiet causes this behavior.

This makes this unit useless for classical music and quite a bit of jazz and other similar styles.If you listen to quiet music, avoid at all costs.If you don't it is the best transmitter I have tried.

When I pressed the autoscan button, it would scan to stations that were already in use, or partially in use. It rarely scanned to empty stations. I used to have a Kensington digital FM transmitter, and when I tuned to my go-to station, it would work no problem, no static at all. When I tried that same station with the Belkin, I heard static non-stop, along with my music. The only time I heard no static was when I went through a tunnel (obviously, since there's no radio station to interfere). I'm going back to my Kensington - very disappointed with this Belkin model. Note: I live in Fairfield County, and used this on the way to NYC. Maybe it would work better in other areas, but around here, it was terrible.

I have used scanning digital radios before (cheaper than this one) and didn't have this problem. At first I thought it was a reception problem, but when it happened on strong signals as well as weak, and seemingly at random, I knew there was no hope for this radio.

I like the neckstrap and I use it with a different radio.

(More customer reviews)Like other reviewers, I was impressed with the sound out of such seemingly small speakers.However, my Sansa is much newer (e280, and apparently not backward compatible with all the accesories...) and it did not fit on the dock or in the clips - nor did any of the additional connection configurations work to power/charge the player while playing it through the speakers.The headphone jack connector worked to play the music from my player through the speakers, but that was it.So, my recommendation is that this system is great if you have the correct version of the Sansa player.If not, the jumble of cords and lack of charging capability make this system less desirable.I am returning mine and plan to buy something that my Sansa will dock into directly.

UPDATE:I purchased the Altec Lansing im510 Dock for my e280 Sansa at Best Buy and it sounds (and charges)great.It's about $80 now.

My biggest issue is that I don't think I really wanted this item. I would have preferred Black, but they only offered the gray. I just bought an SD-3500IS. I understood (incorrectly) that this was the only case Canon offers to fit it. I think it looked like a cheap plastic. I did not care for the ripple wave effect. It was OK. I think overall, it is more than a bit feminine. I would still have used it, if I didn't get lucky and find that the PSC-55 does fit the SD-3500IS (snuggly, but acceptably). I won't be using this case after all.

(More customer reviews)My DVR (digital voice recorder) experience has included the Sony ICD-MS515, the Olympus DS-2200 and DS-2.My main use for DVRs is PC archival of lectures and sermons.

The new WS-320M appealed to me because of its 1GB of flash memory, small size, WMA codec, and built-in USB connector.My older DS-2 is disadvantaged with only 64mb of memory and a proprietary USB connector.

This DVR is much smaller than other DVRs.It is almost half the volume and weight of the DS-2200 (similar to the DM-20).The WS-320M is constructed mostly of plastic, but it is well made and assembled with screws.There is a mechanical hold switch.The USB port cover / battery holder slides off smoothly after pressing the release button.No significant force is required to slide off the port cover or to reassemble it.There is a groove you need to line up first to reassemble the port cover.The small AAA battery cover is not attached to the DVR and can get lost.There is a hand strap hole, but no hand strap is included.The buttons, switches, and d-pad are well-made and provide a small amount of tactile feedback.The smaller size of the DVR makes it very portable but it can cause problems operating the switches for those with larger hands.Anyone used to small music players should have no problem operating the WS-320M.However, someone who regularly uses a voice recorder for dictation should probably stick to the larger professional DVRs like the Olympus DS-2200 and Sony ICD-BM1.

I started testing the WS-320M without reading the manual.It was easy to use.Button and menu operation is very logical.The LCD screen is smaller and less bright than the DS-2200 / DS-2, presumably to save battery life.The screens displays a large amount of information including folder name, time elapsed, time remaining, battery, record mode, and more, though not necessarily at the same time.A press of the OK or STOP button will change the information displayed.While recording, the screen displays a horizontal bar sound level meter.

The WS-320M uses only the Windows Media audio format codec.Other Olympus DVRs use the proprietary DSS format.I prefer the WMA format over the DSS format because the audio sounds more life-like.DSS format in SP or LP mode sounds harsh and full of compression artifacts.Recording in STHQ mode on the WS-320M with the built-in microphone produces satisfactory recordings but even better sounding recordings can be made using a high quality external microphone like the Sony ECM-DS70P or the Olympus ME51S. Overall, I liked the recordings on the WS-320M more than the recordings from my DS-2200.The DS-2200 tends to clip high volume sounds.Using a stereo dubbing / attenuator cable, I "ripped" some songs from a CD player to the WS-320M in STHQ mode.The "ripped" music sounded like FM radio quality or better.All of the voice recordings are file date-time stamped appropriately and date-time stamped internally.You can see the internal date with the program DSS Player (not included).

When I plugged the WS-320M into PC, Windows XP recognized it and installed it.There appears to be no driver available for Windows 98.A new drive appeared in the My Computer window.I was able download the recordings to the PC at about 50 MB per minute.I then uploaded some WMA format audiobook tracks to the WS-320M voice folders.The transfer rate uploading is about 26 MB per minute.This is faster than USB 1 and is comparable to many small mp3 music players.I was able to play the audiobook tracks in voice mode.

In general, the voice mode operation of the WS-320M is very similar to the operation of the DS-2200 or DS-2.

As a music player, the WS-320M is comparable to a Creative Muvo Nano / N200.The sound quality is good with a strong low end and a very low level of background hiss (only noticeable with sensitive earbuds).The volume levels range from bedtime quiet to painful.Music is transferred to the WS-320M by copying music files to the music folder or to the root.The WS-320M can handle two levels of folders (artist and albums for example).Navigation on the player is by folder and not by tags.The player uses mp3 tag information only for the screen display.This player can only play bitrates from 5 kbps to 256 kbps.It will not play 320k mp3 files.

This player has most of the functions of dedicated mp3 flash memory players.There are settings for RANDOM, REPEAT, REPEAT ONE, Play One Folder, Play All Folders, ROCK, FLAT, JAZZ, POP, User 5 band EQ, SRS WOW (surround sound / trubass). You can change the order of music tracks and delete music tracks.There is no bookmarking function and no sleep timer.

The WS-320M is a good player / recorder for a student.You can fit a week's worth of lectures on the recorder and still have about 500 mb left over to fill with music.I would not recommend it for a business person needing a true dictation recorder because of its small size and small controls.But for someone who wants to record meetings and seminars and listen to music, it is a good choice.

Pros:

Small size, good price benefit ratio, long battery life for a voice recorder, good construction, built-in USB connector, informative display, good quality voice recordings, WMA codec, dictation capabilities, external microphone input, date-time stamped recordings, plug and play for file/music transfers, and MP3/WMA music player with DRM support.

Cons:

Tiny controls, separate battery door (risk of loss), lesser quality built-in stereo microphone (typical of consumer level recorders), no remote control capability, no included dictation software (DSS Player Lite is available for free download), no included carry case or strap.ADDENDUM (July 13, 2006)

Upon reading the comment that the reviewer's WS-320M had firmware 1.18 and kept date and time correctly at all times, I contacted Olympus customer service and was able to obtain a warranty repair to correct the problem where my WS-320M would not keep time with the battery compartment disconnected.About ten days after shipping the recorder to Olympus, the unit was returned repaired with a note that the circuit board was replaced.My recorder now keeps the correct time.

After seven months of use, the WS-320M has held up well.It has been protected by a sheet of clear vinyl wrapped around it and still looks new.I have been very satisfied with this recorder.The recorder will even play protected audiobooks downloaded from the public library.My Ipod will not play those audiobooks.

(More customer reviews)Ok, just got it charged up and it seems to work well with my new 160GB iPod Classic and my slightly older Motorola s9's.

What I don't understand is why there seem to be various different versions of this Jabra BT adapter here on Amazon.There's this one (I purchased it and got one that turned out to be the A125s.), one called "Jabra Bluetooth Music Adaptor for Ipod," another called "Bluetooth iPod Adapter," and another called "A125 JABRA BLUETOOTH IPOD ADAPTOR."Kind of confusing!

Anyway, it's still a bit early to tell, but other then some immediate issues getting it paired, it seems to stay paired whether it gets unplugged or not.This is because the Jabra has a battery built into it.I used to have an iCombi iPod Bluetooth Adapter before this and it sucked it's juice directly out of the iPod's battery and so every time I unplugged it, and plugged it back in, it had to be paired again. There are obviously pluses and minuses to each approach.

The Jabra is more bulky then the iCombi.This is bad for obvious reasons, but it's also good in that it makes it more visible.The iCombi was so compact that it was easily lost in plain view! That's actually why I bought this - I lost my iCombi.It could actually be somewhere in my car or my house, but it's so small that it can hid really well!The picture here of the Jabra makes it look like it's wafer-thin, but in fact it is as thick as my 160GB Classic (or the older 60GB/80GB iPod Video).

The Jabra requires that you charge it in addition to your iPod and your BT headset.That's a lot of charging!So it's annoying and you have to deal with more chargers and batteries running out, etc.On the other hand, it's not depleting you iPod's battery, so especially when you're using it to watch videos, which take a lot of battery power, you know you're going to get your full X hours of video rather than something less.

The iCombi had some kind of fastener that made it so it would stay attached to the iPod and not come out unless you pressed these two buttons on its sides at the same time.The Jabra can be removed easily, and my skin case, even though it's just 1mm thick, makes it so the Jabra doesn't stick in very well.The slightest touch will make it come out.I'm going to have make a cut in that skin case to accommondate it!

The Jabra has a button on the side for added functionality which is good, except that I keep finding myself touching it inadvertantly and am wondering if that's going to cause problems down the road...

If I come up with any other feedback, I'll update this.

(More customer reviews)Several years ago I inherited a KLH 21--the inspiration for Henry Kloss' current Tivoli Model One.It is among my most cherished possessions, but sentiment aside--this radio is an advancement of the KLH "original" in nearly every aspect.

Audio tonal quality is much like "beauty"--it's in the eye (or ear) of the beholder.Considering the price and genre of this radio--I consider its audio fidelity to be exceptional--powerful and very pleasing.I prefer its design objective that incorporates ONE superior amp and speaker--opposed to TWO lesser channels for stereo.I've never been able to rationalize a "stereo" design where the speakers are separated by only eight-inches of face-plate!

FM RECEPTION:I own way more than my fair share of radios.Is this product on par with the classic $1500-dollar McIntosh MR-78?Not at all, but remember--Amazon is asking you for a mere $120 to own this radio.Within all reasonable considerations--FM performance is excellent.I suspect the criticism of FM reception you read here is due to a couple factors that are not the fault of this radio.First, NO GOOD FM TUNER can tell the difference between a weak distant station and all the "RF trash" generated within your environment by computers, "smart" appliances, and security systems.In fact, a superior tuner is MORE prone to such interference.Secondly, EVERY GOOD FM TUNER requires a good antenna--lose that included 12-inch "rat tail".I use a C Crane "FM Reflect" tuned wire dipole which terminates directly into the 75-ohm coaxial external antenna connector on this radio.FM sensitivity, selectivity, and capture ratio are very good.I routinely receive distant signals with good quality, and I have NEVER seen this radio overload from a strong local signal at a reasonable distance from its transmitter.

AM RECEPTION:My major criticism of this product is ironically my major accolade!Out of the box, this radio is unresponsive to all but the most powerful AM signals, and it IS NOT equally sensitive across the full 540-1700kHz band.This deficiency CAN be rectified with a $40 addition of the Terk "AM Advantage" inductively-coupled loop antenna.Set it atop or beside this radio, and the AM reception character changes dramatically.Maybe there is a "blessing" in this design--as there are NO "whistles", intermod, or overloading apparent on this radio's AM band reception!With the exception of a very few (and expensive) specialty receivers--the Model One provides the finest AM audio I have found in a mass-market radio.If your option for music lies on AM, you will be very pleased with this radio!

My favorite feature is the very smooth 5:1 geared ANALOG rotary tuning.It's generally accurate, and the wide bandspread and variable-intensity tuning light make it a joy to use.Analog tuning is technically superior in EVERY respect to today's commonplace "digital" tuning.Inconvenient?Maybe ever so slightly, but worth the minimal effort.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cable and adapter. It has worked perfectly. The adapter has retractable prongs which reduces size for travel. My only (minor) complaint is that I wish the cable and adapter could have been selected in white instead of black. I paid $14.95 and think this is money well spent.

(More customer reviews)I decided to replace my iRiver 190T after a 3rd party cable adapter malfunctioned and fused the pin connection to the USB cable together.I wanted USB 2.0 for the faster connection and a larger capacity, but still desired standard user replaceable batteries on a flash based player so I picked this up on sale.

I may still search for a used iRiver 190T after playing with the Lyra RD2315.I like the ruggedness of the 190T a bit more than the RCA Lyra RD2315.

Pros:
User replaceable AAA batteries
Expandable SD slot up to 512 MB
Decent sound for biking and general yard work
Screen is able to be positioned at 0 or 180 degrees for easy reading from belt clip/lanyard
Line in recording and voice for short memos
3 different color backlights for user preference
Decent battery life

Cons:
Headphones are worthless.Placing them in ear prevents clips from holding them in place
Slow reaction on interface compared to older iRiver player "Please Wait..."
Belt clip is going to break after minimal usage (like ink pen cap clips do)
Doesn't seem like USB 2.0 speed, just normal USB 1.1
No armband or case available

I used firmware 3.11 for my testing after upgrading from version 1.11.

(More customer reviews)After trying out a couple of the big name brands like Sony, and not being happy with one thing or another, I opted for this Insignia portable combination ipod/cd/radio.And, it's GREAT!The sound is good and it's just loud enough to rock out without bothering neighboring tentants too much.The remote control is super handy.The bright blue digital clock/display is nice.The controls are all easy to use and figure out, no instructions needed with this one.Easily switches from cd, radio, or ipod.The one thing I don't love about this model is that the cds load in the back.However, if it wasn't designed this way, it would be bigger and bulkier and not as slim as it is now.Overall, this is a great product and, an even better value.

iriver S10 2 GB Multimedia Player (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)When I made my purchase, I can only find the player in amazon markplace, ebay or warehouse123. Since warehouse123 provides 1 year warranty for my S10. I ordered from them and it took only 2 days to receive my player.

Packing: I enjoyed the packaging. It's a square main box with angled corner. Two more small boxes are inside. The S10 is put inside one box and the rest of the accessories are put inside the other. The packing did wow me as Apple's packaging does. iRiver included some plastic molds to hold the player to make it seem more professional. It's an incredible unboxing experience.

Design: The S10 is one of the most beautifully designed MP3 players I have ever seen. For the interfaces of most mp3 players, there are a few small buttons for navigation. The iRiver D-Click allow me to navigate the interface by pressing the four sides of the display itself. The button-less screen creates a very clean and sleek. Since there are no buttons to press, navigation is done through pressing the sides of the screen. Around the edges of the iRiver S10, you'll find the remainder of the controls. The S10 is actually very usable with one hand. It's simple and easy to control the player.

Sound:It has excellent audio playback and recording quality. The stock headphones are not good enough. I wish iRiver could improve the quality of the headphones. I'm using the Audio Technica Ath-CK7 which helps me get the best out of the player. Sound quality is very good as is normal with iRiver players. It produces crystal clear sound as well as smooth and powerful bass.

Transferring music & Battery Life: I would prefer drag-and-drop over iRiver plus 3. I can simply drag and drop my music into the music folder. Since the player is 2GB only, I don't think it needs any music management program. I love the USB portion of the device. I can just plug my device into any USB port in a computer makes up for the 8 hours battery life and it only takes a few minutes to recharge your MP3 player.

My only complain: iRiver doesn't sell the S10 in Blue color. The sound is great. The player is packed with useful options; FM radio, voice recorder, many EQ presets and custom EQ settings. I find the navigation intuitive and easy to use. The cost is very good for what I get. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

(More customer reviews)I bought this player with high hopes as I know Emerson to be a good brand. And at over twenty bucks I did not consider it cheap. At first all was fine then after about a month I noticed a background noise everytime it played. Wa-Wa-Wa-Wa. Then the chirping noise it makes to alert you of low batteries was constant even with fresh batteries. The last straw was when I changed the batteries and low the battery door would not snap shut no matter how hard I tried. This is something I expect in a player a couple years old not 1 month. And this player did not see heavy use before all this happened. I will admit I could have simply gotten a real lemon But I will avoide this brand in the future just the same.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these off of Ebay several weeks ago.It seemed to work ok.When I brought it in to my office the right channel went out.Well I monkeyed around and now it works good.The sound of the IPOD is pretty good for the price.The problem with the unit is the CD, it skips all of the time.Even if you put in a new CD.The AUX input is great to pipe in you PC sound or other sources.I liked this enough that I bought another one off of Ebay and the CD player skips as well.I hit the unit many times and now the CD's seem to work for now.I recommend this product for the sound, the AUX input and sub output.The CD is not high quality, CD decks have been around for quite some time now and GPX needs to find a better CD player for this unit.I will probably buy a portable CD and use the AUX input.I paid 40 bucks for the first and 16.50 for the second.The price is very attractive when compared to other units that offer a lot less options.So overall I recommend this product for those who want a lot of options at a good price.

(More customer reviews)This player is very attractive to look at and the controls are better than some other players. The battery life doesn't come anywhere close to what is advertised. I have found some flaws which I'll discuss below.

1. The player requires Windows Media Player 10 in order to be recognized by Windows. If you get a message that the unit is malfunctioning, just hold down the center button continuously while plugging it in the USB port and it will reboot.

2. I am using WMA files at 64kbps. I know that these files are fine because they work perfectly in other devices. In this Lyra there is a tendency to skip a few times each song. No lockup, just skipping. After backing up the default folders and clearing the songs I did a format as this usually fixes the problem. After reloading the songs I found the problem still there. Not good.

3. The unit gets VERY hot if you are downloading for a long time. I wonder if this has contributed to the meager battery life. I am fortunate to get 3 hours between charges.

4. Do NOT let the player profile songs by itself after a hotsync. You will wind up with album titles but the song selection will say "track 1", "track 2" etc. The right way to profile after downloading is by doing it on the computer. In the taskbar there is a LYRA icon. Right click and select profile songs. Everything comes out perfectly and it takes seconds instead of minutes the other way.

5. If you are in the middle of an album and have to turn the player off don't expect to be returned to where you left off. Every time you turn it off you go back to square one and have to start all over again. I think that this is the most annoying trait of the Lyra. Very, very annoying.

6. The included case is well above average but the power button couldn't be in a worse place. You have to hit it when taking the player out of the case and it sometimes engages while in your pocket. Also, when you activate the hold function to lock all the buttons, it doesn't really lock the power button. Here's why. You get a message to unlock the player on the color screen. And it stays on until you unlock. I took the player out with a full charge and on hold. It was in my shirt pocket. I unwittingly must have pressed against the power button. It is so easy to do. Well, a few hours later I went to use the thing and noticed the unlock message. It must have been on for some time because after unlocking it the thing died. Dead battery. I recharged the battery and then duplicated the situation. Sure enough the message stayed on; the screen stayed lit and the battery died after only an hour. This is unacceptable. Overall, I would have liked to give this Lyra 2765 a higher score. It is the right size and the controls are very user friendly. However, it seems that on the whole this player was not well thought out. There are other players out there for the same money that do a much better job. It made me wonder when I first opened the quick start guide that the first thing you read is a notice that if you are having trouble with WMP 10 go to a certain website for a fix. Apparently RCA doesn't have much confidence in their product either. I hope this review helps anyone thinking about buying the Lyra 2765.

My real old (broken) two-battery radio (not sport) walkman was fine for all my FM stations, even indoors. Programming remains a chore, but Panasonic is even worse in my opinion. Volumn switch seems too easy to turn by accident. Those headphones I wish were offered as an option on all Sony personal radios, they are good and comfortable. This radio is sleek, (a nicer color than black!) and should suffer abuse ok. If your favorite FM stations are easy to tune in, it will give you good stereo separation and bass boost. Buy discounted, not anywhere near the retail list price, and you should be satisfied on balance.

however sold my car and I was trying to take it off and it was freezing cold.the unit snapped at the plastic that attaches to the suction cup. (unrepairable) I don't really fault the product because it so cold and plastic becomes very brittle at that temp.plus it really held onto the window too ;)

So I ordered a new one and it took FOR EVER to show up.(like weeks) from the company that I bought it from via amazon.So much so that it didn't show up in time for our drive to Florida and I ended up going to best buy and getting one there.

so now I have two ;)

I recommend the product - esp if you have moto droid.

(More customer reviews)The AM worked very poorly on arrival.Figured I mostly listen to FM anyway and the FM tuner was certainly one of the better ones I've seen.I don't live close to a major city, and the cheaper ones just won't hold a station while I'm moving.Before the 90 day warranty was up, I decided that I'd better get the AM taken care of.I was unable to find a phone # in the manual, only an address to send the unit to.They also wanted you to enclose $6 to cover return shipping.I was very upset about this and was determined not to pay it - however I had no idea how to reach Sangean to complain.Instead I risked it all and opened the unit only to find that one of the wires for the internal AM antenna was not connected at all.I got the soldering iron out and delicately soldered the antenna wire in place and voila - nice clear AM.Disappointed that I had to kill an afternoon for this though.Sangean is supposed to produce high end products and one has to pay a premium for this.Quality control for such company should have caught this at the factory, there is no excuse.

(More customer reviews)Both cars that I use have a tape player and CD changers.For a long time, because we could play CDs in the cars, we didn't need any kind of adapter.However, now in the age of iPods and other MP3 players, adapters have come back with a vengeance.There is no lack of options out there for adapters.With all the different types of music players available, I wanted an adapter that would not only work with my current iPod, but any future versions that I might buy, not to mention friends and family who might be carrying a completely different model.

So, in the interest of simplicity, I decided to go "old school" and try the Cassette Adapter first.The main reason was because it will work with any MP3 player (unless of course it doesn't have a headphone jack and that's just crazy talk).

I also didn't want to spend much because I figured there couldn't be much difference between one that costs $10 and another that is twice as much or more.And if the cheaper one really was garbage, I wouldn't be out much.

I have to say that I am very happy with this product.It works just as I expected.Because it is using a tape head, you can expect some hiss on different tape players.The way to avoid that is to turn down the car stereo volume a bit and use the volume on the MP3 player instead.It might take a bit of fiddling to find the right combination but it wasn't hard to figure out.Now I have no problems with tape hiss and it sounds great.Of course, I have an average stereo system in the cars.Someone who has upgraded to bigger and better speakers/amp/etc. might notice more hiss but I sure don't.

The only downside with this or any other cassette adapter is you are limited to using it in cars that still have a cassette player.But that has nothing to do with how much you paid or the quality of the adapter.

I compared them to my old Philips SBC HL150's and although I was always happy with their performance, Pioneer's quality sound was far superior. Coming from a music college, I was able to experience good, quality, studio headphones, I must say these Pioneers offer the closest thing I've heard to studio headphones at an affordable price! The biggest difference is that you actually get bass!!! I went so long with my other headphones that I didn't notice how much bass I was missing, or that there was even bass on some songs. For those of you who are asking "Ok what if I just want good headphones?" Well good headphones starts with good bass, it's a basic fundamental to listening to music, the rest, like treble, mid, and high, all that other technical mumbo-jumbo well it's usually a given with all headphones, but that's my biggest note about these headphones, THE BASS! With good bass you have good acoustics overall. Another important note: the jacks are gold plated (It comes with an extender piece that's also gold plated). Since I just got these, I am saving that last star on the rating because I will post another review within a couple of months to recap how well they have been. I wanted to show them off to everyone and tell them of all the nifty features and benefits on my first day but I withheld... for now.

(More customer reviews)If what your looking for is rear curtain sync, you don't need all mulimax transceivers. However if you are looking to have separate zones of flashes you do need to have the mulitmax, or equivalent 32 channel receiver. The zone function only works on channels 17-32, and the plus only has channels 1-4.
With that in mind this is the definition of reliability, and for many applications just having the extra channels will be worth the extra hundred bucks. For example at major sporting events where every photographer seems to be using those first four channels you will still be able to have your flash go off only when you want it too.
Using zones has some extra uses too. I use it in my studio to set up 3 completely different lighting scenes (background white, background black, and third with some light spill onto the background) set my camera to bracket (3) and then with each shot get 3 completely different pictures. Saves me lots of time and I don't have to tell the model "that looked great, now try to do exactly the same thing after I spend 5 minutes fiddling with the lights...."
Now if you have no idea what I am talking about, then maybe this isn't the device for you. And that is not a problem! But there is no reason to pay this money if you are not sure that you are going to use its features.

They said my music was poor quality, and told me to use the audio jack with the iPod because the I-mobile couldn't play music off of a device with folders. Well, I had played the music before and I know that it wasn't poor quality--they were different qualities. As a matter of fact, two songs played slightly better than the others and they were 96 bitrate. So, whatever--I didn't pay $100 for the thing, and it got the job done with the audio jack. I got curious later about the SD card slot. I had only used an SD card for my camera, I had no idea I could put more than just pics on it. The card plays so well! I can't use random for my music with the SD card, so every now and again I'll just rearrange my music on the SD card. If you get this product, I suggest you invest in a 2GB, $10 SD card. Well, I guess it depends on where you live how much you pay for one! :) Oh, one thing I almost forgot: I'm about 99% positive that you should tune into a station that isn't being used or a weak station--one that you can't hear cleary, to avoid static. Well, I guess that's 49.5/49.5, huh?lol I use the very first station around here which is 88.5 FM
In conclusion: 1)I don't care about the USB (even though that was what I bought it for) because there are alternate ways of playing music my music 2)Using the I-mobile made me use my brain which made me smarter :p

Update 4/24/10: if you hold in the play button on the device it will allow you to use repeat and shuffle options. Also, the equalizer comes in handy cuz it won't let me keep turning up the volume. When I put it on "normal," sometimes I turn the volume too loud and my speakers will "pop" a little.

No never mind how nice the wood finish is but you need to ask how well does the turntable itself perform. The turntable platter and tonearm are pure plastic ! As for the cartridge, buyer beware. If you intend to purchase one of these faux 'tables ask the sales person how to obtain an extra cartridge or stylus for the stylus is not a typical p-mount (plug and play) that you can just get from Best Buy or Radio Shack. It seems to be maufactured to fit the Crosley turntable only.
Now as for the sound, this will blow your mind. Why on earth would any company manufacture an audio product, concentrate totally on the "nice" wood finish but neglect to make at least a half decent turntable playing mechanism ? Beats me.We're not looking for audiophile grade components here but at least humor the consumer with something that sounds better than a AM transistor radio. The sound you will get from the "full range" speakers means there are no 2 way or 3 way speakers built in (then again, neither was there in the 1930's).
If you want something to add to your nostalgic Americana memorabilia just to look at then the Crosley will fit in nicely. If you are expecting mid to hi-end analog quality sound, forget it.Look elsewhere. The flimsy tonearm needle will not track those slightly warped lp's you may own...

(More customer reviews)I really like this product in theory.It has the same capacity as my iPod Shuffle, but a much longer battery life and the ability to see what I'm listening to and select specific tracks. The only down side in terms of how it works is that files transfer pretty slowly and it ties up my music player until its done transferring.Also, its size and physical construction means that it takes up more than its share of space if you have several USB ports side-by-side.

The other trouble is that getting one that works right seems to be a little hit-or-miss.The first one I bought would never charge, which according to my research at the time is a fairly common problem.The second one works just fine.

I was getting everything... even WQAM 300 miles away! It would not come in that well but on my way to work (1 hr drive) I could get WQAM well enough to listen to it.Amazing!I dont know if other HD radio units do as well.

It is warranted for 1 year and that is over... But I got a bunch of use out of it....

(More customer reviews)I use a cassette adapter with my MP3 player in the car, but was hoping to have something I could use in the house that would let me keep the MP3 player close by for skipping songs, pausing, picking albums, and changing the volume. Wiring the MP3 directly into the stereo I had to get up any time I wanted to do those things.
This unit is small, inexpensive, widely available and doesn't add a tangle of additional cords. It is powered by 2 AAA batteries that are not included and does not have a jack for a DC adapter. It is suspiciously similar looking to the iRock 300w, certainly just a rebranded twin (in fact the Belkin Tunecast may be repackaged version of this unit as well).
On the way home from the store it actually worked pretty well in the car even though in Atlanta a reasonably powerful college station sits at 88.5, right in the middle of its four possible settings (88.1, 88.3, 88.5, and 88.7). I noticed a little static at 88.1 and when I turned the unit off I could hear a scratchy NPR station (maybe in Columbus?). I got some more interference in an isolated spot on the drive home, but for the most part it sounded good.
But at home I tried the device with two different home stereo units and couldn't get a clear signal on either even though I was less than ten feet away. In both cases 88.5 seemed to be to blame. One of those stereos has an external FM antenna and one doesn't. I tried again with my Tivoli radio and it got a scratchy signal due to 88.5 as well.
So it doesn't work for me and I will have to send it back. It is worth trying in your area and maybe you'll get better results. I think it might work better if I was just further from downtown. Other units have a wider selection of frequencies they can play on and that might have helped on this one as well.

(More customer reviews)This is the second Belkin transmitter I've used. My older car had a tape player, so I was able to use the cassette adaptor with my mp3 player and that sounded wonderful.My new car only had a cd player and no easy way to listen to all my music.

These transmitters are absolutely horrible. You can get sound, but it's definitely not crispy clear sound and it sounds like your old analog tapes or your old transistor radio that lost its antenna.

So, here's my advice: after wasting a bunch of money on two transmitters in addition to portable speakers that also sounded terrible, I finally went to Circuit City and bought a new stereo for only $79 (including installation) that had an auxiliary jack.Now, I can use a cable and plug my mp3 player right into the auxiliary jack and have clear, static-free music!

I highly suggest you don't waste your money on this transmitter or any other one.If your speakers are already good, you just need a new stereo with an auxiliary jack. It will make listening to your player an absolute pleasure.With the transmitter, I evenhated to start the player, since I knew I'd have to play around with the transmitter to even hear just a little bit. The new stereo has made everything so much easier!

I especially love having so many of my favorite songs at my fingertips, and the size and weight are great advantages for my upcoming vacation, as I will be traveling by bus, and this is alot less cumbersome than my old CD player and 40 CDs would've been.The graphics are easy to understand, and the red color is so me!Cudos also to Amazon -- this thing arrived with lightning speed, very impressive, and it gave me plenty of time to rip and sync.One accoutrements package later, and it was all good.Alot of my co-workers are impressed that this little baby does so much for such a great price.And also, I have small ear canals, and have found the Sansa earbuds to be the most comfortable of the several pairs I own, not too shabby!All in all, great product, great price.Thanx alot!!!

Samsung YA-CP200 NeXus Car Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Samsung Nexus 25 primarily for the XM radio capability and its inexpensive price. I paid about $30 from Sears after rebate. I liked the flexibility it gave me to be portable in the car and at home. And the MP3 player recording capability off of XM was only icing on the cake. I use it primarily as a car player now and so the use of the car kit is extremely important to me. I have to say that I'm very pleased with its quality and reception.

(Even though I list the pros and cons, many of these concerns are about the NEXUS product itself and don't reflect the car kit adapter)

PROS:

1) Quality-wise it's well built and installed easily in my car. I have an 99 Acura RL and the YA-CP200's air vent connector clicked easily onto the vents in a convenient vent on my dash. The unit stays in place and I don't have any concerns about it sliding around or slipping out of the cradle as I drive.

2) Sound quality is great. Even though I could use the FM transmitter built into the base, I've opted to use the cassette adapter and I get perfect sound. My sister has an XM receiver by a competitor and she uses the FM transmitter and when I ride with her, I hear a constant low hum in her broadcasts. I don't have that issue. I have an extra cord to deal with, but it concealed easily along side the dash so no discernible issues there.

3) Remote control capability helps with use in the car. Even though the Nexus is located in arm's length reach on the dash, the car kit comes with it's own separate remote control that allows me to control the unit with ease. The home base unit also comes with a remote so now I have two and can keep one in each location. The only problem is that sometimes I'll take a corner and if I haven't secured the remote, it can end up in the foot well on the passenger side. That can be annoying.

4) I love the fact that I can record the XM broadcasts on the fly. When I'm in my car and I go into a tunnel or an area where I can't get signal, the Nexus automatically switches over to MP3 mode and I can listen to my favorites until signal returns. To record a song is a simple push of a single button during broadcast. Works pretty effortlessly.

CONS:

1) I already mentioned that the remote has a tendency to fly around the car if I don't secure it... but that's more my fault than it is a design problem with the unit.

2) The Nexus 25 receiver on it's own can't receive the XM signal. There's a separate XM module that plugs into the cradle behind the receiver that allows you to receive the signal. If I remove the XM module, then I can't get XM broadcasts. Considering the module is such a small thing, I don't understand why Samsung just didn't include the circuitry in the unit like in the Samsung Helix, the upgraded model. The Helix has the XM reception built into a single receiver unit so you can receive XM anywhere without having to plug the unit into a cradle with the module. I think Samsung was looking for different price points and it charges almost 4 times for the Helix as it does for the Nexus. Though I can understand why they've done this, I think they've done themselves a disservice.

3) The navigation on the receiver is a bit cumbersome and not very intuitive. I can get the job done, it just takes me a few more clicks than I would like especially considering that I'm in my car and should be keeping my attention on the road. Once again a quip against the Nexus unit itself and not the car kit. Changing stations is not so simple and I haven't yet figured out how to save my favorite channels so I can go directly there... I'm sure there's a way to do it, I just need to get my butt to pick up the manual and read it.

4) I have to reinstall the XM car antenna. I've heard from a local XM radio installer that the magnets in the antenna cause rusting of the exterior paint and seem to mess up your paint job. So my sister ran her antenna wire around the inside of her windshield and uses velcro to attach the antenna to the windsheild behind her rear view mirror to help conceal it. Sounds like a good fix so I'll be doing that in the near future.

Overall, I think the Nexus 25 along with the car kit make a great addition to any vehicle!!!

- the wireless over-ear models like MDRIF330RK have too much electrical and RF interference
- The Sony MDR-EX70LP can't be worn for hours at a stretch (the funky ear rubber covers are to blame)
- The street style Sony MDR-G57G don't have the low end response that these do.
I'm continuously blown away by how well these stack up against other models way out of its price range.
This wouldn't be an unbiased review without some shortcomings:
- they are easily jarred loose with lots of bodily movement (good for desk jockeys and rollerblading, not running)
- they don't come with extra foam ear covers. Lose one and they're worthless.

(More customer reviews)I bought this accessory pack because I wanted the mini speakers and the 3-in-1 charging kit for my Sansa Clip.It is advertised as being good for all Sansa MP3 players (including Sansa Clip).However, the 3-in-1 charger does not fit the Sansa Clip.I believe it is for the Sansa fuze.So I have to now buy a different USB cable that fits my MP3 player.

The Samsung YA-CD100 Helix Home Docking Kit provides you with everything you need to connect your Samsung Helix XM satellite receiver to a home stereo system. The Samsung Helix XM satellite radio/MP3 player initially comes with everything needed to play it over any home stereo, so the YA-CD100 can either allow you to connect to a second home or office stereo system without purchasing another subscription, or it can simply offer replacement parts for the original accessories that came with your Helix receiver.
The YA-CD100 kit includes a desktop cradle and docking stand, an indoor antenna, an AC wall-style universal power adapter, and an RCA-to-3.5mm mini-jack audio cable. All the elements in this kit are easily installed and completely plug-and-play, requiring you to simply make the signal and power connections at the cradle, and position the antenna for optimal reception. While plugged in, the home docking cradle serves to recharge your Helix's built-in battery.
